i. Relief Camp
The affected people fearing further strikes ran out leaving all the little remains in their dismantled houses to safer locations. TMSSS along with local parishes organized 18 temporary relief camps in following locations. Altogether, 25325 people were housed in these camps for the period of a week.

After establishing these camps, TMSSS' focus was on providing food materials and clothing to cover the basic needs of beneficiaries. The initial support of Rs. 2 lakhs received from Caritas India along with money advanced from Diocese was utilized for various relief measures undertaken.
Supply of food materials:
During the first phase, TMSSS has distributed 49.60 tons of rice. Altogether 25,325 persons were served. The materials supplied include cooked food, supply of edible oils, fuel etc. Apart from these, the dry ration supplied by Caritas India too was served among the affected villagers. |

### We have received from Caritas India13,000 packets of Food materials with 10,000 nos. Tarpaulins. These were distributed through TMSSS staff, Self Help Group and Fishermen Federations to Tsunami affected peoples.
Supply of Cloth materials :
Many of the affected members housed in these temporary relief camps were left only with the cloth they were wearing on the tragic day. Based on the identified needs, TMSSS supplied new clothing materials as follows. Meanwhile the local philanthropists and other voluntary agencies too supplied used cloths for the affected members. TMSSS has supplied 1500 sets of lungies, bed sheets, and towels |

Supply of household utensils and mats :
TMSSS also has supplied household utensils like pots and mats to most deserving families affected by tsunami. This support helped them enormously while they were in temporary shelters. |

Medical aid to affected families :
The affected families in temporary relief camps were given vaccination to avoid spread of communicable diseases. Injured persons were given first aid by medical team deputed by TMSSS. Another round of medical check up was conducted in the villages after the people returned from temporary relief camps to their respective villages, by organizing special health camps. |

ii. Establishing of temporary shelters
After the fourth week onwards, the people housed in local temporary relief camps were returning back to their households. Families whose houses were damaged fully continued to stay in the Temporary shelters constructed within their villages. TMSSS has established 56 individual temporary shelters in four villages. 3. Youth Counselling Camps :
Seven youth counselling camps were organized by the youth commission. These camps focused on educating the participants about psychologically coping up with disaster situations. Cultural programs were also part of these camps. Details are as below.

v. Water & Sanitation
The tsunami has affected the sanitary structures available in coastal villages. TMSSS has established water supply sources at four villages viz. Idinthakarai, Kothenkuli, Koottapuli and Perumanal.
