KOLPING programme was started in Tuticorin Diocese in the year 1987 and from 1990 onwards the programme was carried out through TMSSS. Bl. Adolf Kolping - Germany was the founder of the programme. Spirituality and Economy is the main concept of the programme. As per the perspective of Bl. Adolf Kolping, to attain the concept of Spirituality and Economy, a person should possess the following qualities;
1. He should be a good Christian
2. He should be a hard worker
3. He should be a responsible parent
4. He should be a responsible citizen Based on these criteria, Kolping units have been formed in the operational areas of TMSSS. At present, there are 40 Kolping Units among these 8 units became Trusts. |

|
The members of the Kolping units are given spiritual awareness and social awareness. Also they are given financial support to take up Income Generation Programme, Milch animal rearing, house construction and vocational training. |
