SAVE A FAMILY PLAN - INDIA jointly with CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AGENCY (CIDA) have launched various programs for the welfare of the marginalized groups especially for widows and deserted. TMSSS have initiated this programme since 1991 and reached to several people of different categories. 2 main programs are being run at present with the support of SAFP(I) & CIDA.
A. REGULAR BENEFICIARY PROGRAMME:
Deserving widows and deserted have been selected under this programme and they are given monthly assistance, a sum of Rs. 500/- per month per family. The core of this programme is to improve the economical status of these women and to enhance the living condition of the deserted women.
The criteria for selecting a candidate for this programme is
* Living under poverty line
* Having children below 13 years
* Widow / deserted / handicapped / neglected /hopeless
At present there are 337 beneficiaries are being benefited by this programme. Also each beneficiary will get special gifts at various occasions,
B. SPED PROGRAMME:
Strengthening and empowering the oppressed society is the main aim of this programme. Under this programme, deserving beneficiaries have been selected through the local Self Help Groups. These beneficiaries are given financial support for construction of houses, for initiating income generation programs. The objective of this programme is not only to improve financial status of the people also to create awareness among people and bring forward them towards sustainability.
• Subsidy to start an economic activity
• 8 houses were constructed for the homeless and each of the house subsidy cost is Rs. 25,000/-
• Wells were renovated at a subsidy cost of Rs 3,000/- each.
• IGP, EDP Training programmes were conducted.
