Fishermen Development :

For the development of the fishermen, a federation namely "Muthukulithurai" was formed in the year 1995. This federation mainly focuses on the issues of the fishermen and works specifically for the development of the fishermen. The federation has formed 22 fishermen sanghams having more than 1020 members. The members of these sanghams have been given social awareness and the habit of savings is motivated among them. Based on their savings loan facility is arranged for them from scheduled banks. More over an Out Board Engine Training Institute is being run by the federation by which the young dynamic youth of the coastal villages get trained in this field and adopt themselves in self employment.

Women Development :

TMSSS takes special care in the development of women folk. Social awareness is given to the target group. They have been brought under one umbrella so called "Self Help Groups (SHG). Each SHG consists of 12 to 20 members. The main aim of the formation of SHGs is to motivate the women group towards self sustainability. In order to enhance the economic status of these women, the habit of savings is being inculcated among them and of course it has brought a considerable fruits on it. At present there are about 750 SHGs in the diocese. The members of these SHGs are availed loan facility from the Nationalized and scheduled banks based on their savings. The purpose of the loan facility is to initiate Income Generation Programme (IGP) that will be the supplemental income for their family. These members are given trainings on various fields like, Gender equity, Self sustainability, Leadership and management training and so on

Agriculturalist and palmyrah tappaers:

For the welfare of the Palmyrah tappers and agriculturalists TMSSS has formed federations and through which the developmental activities are being carried out. There are about 50 groups consisting more than 1500 members. For their economic activities, finance facility is arranged through banks. Also the members are given training in Self employment and Social awareness. The details of sangams, federations and their savings is mentioned below.
