Tuticorin Multipurpose social service society is charitable organization rendering social service for the upliftment of the poor and down trodden unmindful of caste, creed and any sort of discriminations. The organization had its official entry on 11.05.72 duly registered under serial No. 26 of 1972 of Societies Registration Act of XXI 1860.
Objects : The object for which the society is established to provide social service to people in the revenue districts of Tuticorin, Part of Tirunelvelli and Kanlyakumari irrespective of race, sex, caste, creed or community, but especially to the deprived and to the destitute among people through;
- Charitable gifts of food, clothing, shelter, medicines or other corporal aid to victims of calamities for the immediate temporary relief in their distress;
- Socio-economic development project for uplifting the standard of living of small farmers, small fishermen, palmyrah tappers, weavers, daily wage earners etc in respect of health, sanitation, education, training and community health development activities by the promotion of village industries and cottage industries in their areas;
- Stable and permanent measures for ensuring social justice and peace and empowering women folk through awareness education, adult literacy campaigns, women's welfare programs, nutrition education for mothers during pregnancy and lactating, training to women to improve their skills for earning supplementary family income;
- Fraternal care to the street children and un employed youth and equipping them to have self-employment;
- Such other acts as may be necessary, incidental, or conducive for achieving the above objects.
ADMINISTRATION AND SUPERVISION
This society has the General body consists of 21 members out of which 10 members are elected for the Governing body. The Governing body is held responsible for administration of our society. The Governing body meetings are held once in a quarter and the General body meeting once in a year. The members of the Governing body of our society belong to various walks of livelihood namely lawyer, doctor, officer of Food Corporation of India, Social Welfare Officers, the Chief functionary of Non Government Organization. All the bank accounts are being operated jointly by the Secretary / Treasurer and one member of the Governing body. In the Governing body meeting the services rendered during the period are explained to the members and the statement of accounts are read out and discussed. The Secretary / Director of our society personally verifies the execution of each and every project at various levels. There are 13 office staff. We have 28 field staff (animators, coordinators). Also we have wardens, teachers and technical instructors to supervise the activities of Institutions. Their work is reviewed every month and necessary instructions are issued. They submit their monthly progress report of their activities to the Secretary / Director, who verifies and checks the work. The Registrar of societies inspects our society's records and accounts once in a year. All the developmental activities are being carried out by generous support of foreign donors and local well wishers. |
